Does SurveyJS support AI assistance?
Yes. SurveyJS allows you to integrate AI services to assist with form creation and editing. By connecting a language model (e.g., GPT-3.5 Turbo, ChatGPT, DeepSeek, or Microsoft Copilot) via an API, you can extend Survey Creator with AI-powered features tailored to your needs. With AI integration, users can: Integration is handled on the client side: your application sends prompts to the deployed AI model via an API and receives structured responses, which can then be used to update survey questions or options. This setup gives you full control over when and how AI features are offered, while keeping your data and front-end AI logic entirely under your control.
Is AI a built-in part of SurveyJS?
No. SurveyJS libraries (Form Library, Survey Creator, Dashboard, and PDF Generator) do not include an AI or machine-learning engine and do not bundle a language model. Form rendering, validation, conditional logic, and PDF export are ordinary JavaScript in your application and work without AI. The libraries do not call AI providers. SurveyJS does not host an AI service, does not require an AI API key, and does not send your form definitions or respondent data to an AI vendor. You can optionally connect your own language model (for example ChatGPT, Copilot, or DeepSeek) in your application via an API. That integration is implemented in your code, uses your API and your network path, and is not required. For optional authoring features such as generating forms, choices, translations, or grammar fixes, see Does SurveyJS support AI assistance?
Can I use AI to customize my SurveyJS forms to match my application's design?
Yes. SurveyJS provides an AI agent brand styling skill and an MCP server to help AI coding assistants such as Cursor, Claude Code, and GitHub Copilot customize the appearance of SurveyJS components. The styling skill guides your AI agent through an analysis of your application's design system and the creation of a CSS mapping between your existing design tokens and SurveyJS design tokens. This allows SurveyJS forms and the form builder to adopt your application's colors, typography, spacing, and other visual styles without extensive manual CSS customization. The SurveyJS MCP server complements the skill with access to up-to-date SurveyJS documentation and API references, so your agent can use the appropriate styling options and customization APIs.
