AI-Optimized Online Resources
SurveyJS provides documentation and demos in Markdown so that AI coding agents can read the instructions and code without the surrounding website interface. Give your agent a page URL and describe how you want to use it in your project.
Your agent needs to be able to open URLs, but no SurveyJS plugin or project configuration is required. If you don't know which page to use, start with an example index or the llms.txt discovery file.
Markdown Documentation
To share a documentation page with your agent, add .md to its URL. For example, when asking the agent to add a form to a React app, link to the React Getting Started Guide in Markdown.
Tell the agent which framework and SurveyJS package versions your project uses, and give it access to the files you want to change. This helps it adapt the guide to your application.
Demo Source Code
To use a demo as a reference, open it for your framework and add .md to the URL. The resulting page includes both the explanation and the example's source files. For example, the React source for the custom drop-down item demo shows how to customize dropdown choices.
Include the URL and the change you want in your prompt:
Read https://surveyjs.io/form-library/examples/dropdown-box-with-custom-items/reactjs.md and use it as a reference to add icons to the choices in my React survey's product dropdown.
If you need to find a demo first, browse the example lists or give one of these links to your agent:
llms.txt Discovery File
If you are unsure which documentation is relevant to your task, ask your agent to start with SurveyJS's llms.txt file. It introduces the products and links to their documentation and demos, helping the agent find a guide or example to follow.
Include the URL in your prompt and describe the task you want to complete. Ask the agent to use the file to find relevant pages, then read those pages before making changes. Once you find a useful guide or demo, you can link directly to its Markdown version in future prompts.
Use Online Resources with Skills and MCP
Markdown links give your agent specific guides and examples to follow. You can also install SurveyJS AI Agent Skills to help it apply those references to common tasks, such as writing survey JSON or adding a form to your app.
To let the agent find additional guidance as it works, connect the SurveyJS MCP server. It can then search the documentation and look up API details beyond the pages you include in your prompt.
